About the event
The term temazcal comes from Nahuatl and means “temple of steam”, due to this, these places were used as medicinal methods in ancient Mesoamerican cultures thanks to the multiple benefits they provide to health, body and mind, that is, thanks to the holistic well-being they provide.
In turn, these places are used therapeutically and also to perform ceremonies; temazcales are small structures in which people enter to be purified (physically, mentally and spiritually).
Inside them are placed porous stones that are heated to red hot and that release steam, creating a sauna-like place. One of the main characteristics is that they are not dome-shaped and they do not have lighting because they represent our mother's womb and when we come out we are new, renewed and purified people.
